Flomac Solutions Relocation

Flomac Solutions, home of the Flomac Dosing System, has moved to a new office in Slough, UK and the new contact details are shown below. While Flomac Solutions has a new address and telephone number the Flomac System remains unchanged and unrivalled as the market leader for handling additives used in the manufacture of asphalt

Commenting on the move Managing Director Mr Franz Smet said “I am delighted with our new location – a move into new purpose built offices may seem unusual given the current economic outlook but this demonstrates our determination to be prepared for the upturn in business as soon as it happens”.

The Flomac System was developed fifteen years ago and is now used in more than two thirds of UK asphalt manufacturing plants, either as original fits to new plants or as retro fittings to existing units. With our wide knowledge of asphalt plants we are able to supply the Flomac Systems throughout Europe.

The Flomac System includes the unique Compac Unit which accurately weighs the additives before delivering them directly into the mixer using a powerful pneumatic blowing unit. Specially designed to handle any free flowing pelletised product the Flomac System was originally used for dosing fibre pellets but now also handles red pigment pellets, wax based asphalt modifiers and a growing number of new products such as Rediset WMX warm mix additive from Akzo Nobel. Indeed a number of additive manufacturers are looking to produce pelletised versions of their products as they see the advantages of being able to use the Flomac System for easy dosing.

The Flomac System is accurate and reliable; robustly built the oldest Flomac machines are still performing as well as when they were first installed. In addition to being safe and clean the biggest benefit offered to our customers is the great saving in manpower costs as the expensive practise of hand dosing is eliminated.

In these difficult economic times it is even more important that every Capital Expenditure project is justified. Users of the Flomac System can look past the initial expense and enjoy the savings that will be made from the first day of use.

Adding AP to RAP

“The use of RAP continues to grow.  Each year new formulations are designed which allow for a greater percentage of RAP to be used in the mix.  The Wetfix range of adhesion promoters have an important part to play in these recipes due to variable aggregate quality and the presence of residual moisture.  Please look at the Wetfix Product Selector Chart which give details of some of the AkzoNobel products available from their UK distributor, Flomac Solutions.  The more active grades such as Diamine OLBS or Wetfix N422 would be an ideal starting point for RAP formulations.”

“AkzoNobel’s Rediset WMX additive has now been successfully trialled on every continent in warm mix formulations.  Using Rediset WMX in warm mix systems will reduce the asphalt mixing and application temperatures while improving the moisture resistance properties of the mix.

Warm mix additive from AkzoNobel

AkzoNobel recently announced an addition to their range of bitumen additives with the development of Rediset™ WMX. This new warm mix system significantly reduces the mixing and application temperatures whilst enhancing the moisture resistance properties of the mix.

Rediset™ WMX comes in a free flowing pastille form which can be easily added to the mixing unit via the Flomac dosing system or to the bitumen, at approx 1kg/t of the final mix. Other benefits of warm mix with Rediset™ WMX include:
